Synopsis

Engaging General Physics 1: Mechanics through Active Learning and Mathematical Problem-Solving provides a structured and application-oriented introduction to the fundamental principles of mechanics. The book is organized around the ENGAGE-Physics Learning Cycle—Elicit, Navigate, Generate, Apply, Gather, and Explain—which guides students from prior knowledge and conceptual understanding to mathematical development, practical application, laboratory investigation, and reflection. Worked examples, active-learning activities, research tasks, assessments, and Philippine-context applications help learners relate mechanics to transportation, industry, technology, disaster-risk reduction, and everyday experiences. Author Biography

Eleazar C. De Jesús, Ph.D.

Eleazar Cacapit De Jesus, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor I at Pangasinan State University–Lingayen Campus, where he teaches Physics and other related science courses. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education from Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation.

Dr. De Jesus is deeply committed to teaching science and mathematics through research-based and learner-centered approaches. His academic and research interests include science education, physics education, scientific literacy, student engagement, and innovative instructional practices. His scholarly work includes studies on the scientific literacy performance of Filipino learners and the academic engagement of senior high school students in General Physics.

He also contributes to the broader academic community as a peer reviewer for scholarly publications, including the Asian Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies and the International Journal of Research in Education and Science.
